If you are looking for an SEO expert in Nepal, here is the short version. I'm Anurag Jha, an SEO expert in Kathmandu and Head of Marketing at Daewoo Nepal. I fix the technical SEO, structured data and answer-first content that gets a business found on Google and quoted by ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews. Audits start at NPR 15,000, and the price is in writing before we begin. This page covers what the job really is, what it costs, how to tell a real expert from a pretender (me included), and the proof.
My own research into how ready Nepali business websites are for Google and AI. Read the report.
One-time, with a prioritised fix list. Larger work is quoted in writing after I look at your site.
My free tool shows whether AI assistants can read a site. Run it on mine, or yours. Try it.
Who is the best SEO expert in Nepal?
I won't call myself the best, and you should be wary of anyone who does. There is no licence for SEO, no official ranking, and no neutral scoreboard. Most "number one" claims are written by the person making them. The same goes for the search for an "SEO guru in Nepal": a guru is a nickname, not a qualification.
So judge by evidence you can check. Here is mine:
I built the brand's organic search from zero. The storefront went from no organic history to indexed, growing traffic and a page-two average position within two months of launch.
I designed and built the website and set up its technical SEO: a page and address for every listing, a self-updating sitemap, structured data and llms.txt. It is already receiving enquiries.
I've also done SEO consulting for two educational institutions, Advanced College of Engineering and Management and EEIC. My work history is dated on the About page, so you can see what I did and when.
What an SEO expert in Nepal actually does
- 01Finds what stops Google. Crawling, indexing, speed, mobile layout, duplicate pages and broken redirects. You get a prioritised fix list, not a 60-page PDF.
- 02Matches pages to real searches. Keywords chosen by what the searcher wants, so each page has one job and a way to measure it.
- 03Tells machines what you are. Structured data and an
llms.txtsummary, so search engines and AI assistants know who you are, what you sell and where. - 04Handles local search. Google Business Profile, consistent contact details and a simple way to collect real reviews.
- 05Earns trust the slow, real way. No bought links and no fake reviews. One penalty can erase months of work.
- 06Reports plainly. Search Console and analytics under your own accounts, plus a short note on what moved and why.
The six jobs are explained one by one on the SEO services in Nepal page.
What is different about SEO in Nepal
- 01The door is open and the room is empty. In my audit of 2,339 Nepali business websites, only 1% block AI answer engines, but 63% have no structured data and 92% have no
llms.txt. See the full findings. - 02People search in three ways: English, Nepali script and Romanised Nepali. Keyword research checks how your customers actually type.
- 03Marketplaces matter. Many shoppers start on Daraz, so a good plan decides what to sell there and what to build on your own site. The Daraz problem, explained.
- 04Local search decides a lot. For clinics, restaurants, schools and shops, the map result and Google Business Profile come first.
- 05Phones first, WhatsApp often. Many visitors arrive on phones and mobile networks, and many enquiries end in WhatsApp or a call rather than a form. Pages must be light, and contact buttons obvious.
What SEO costs in Nepal
My starting prices for a small site: NPR 15,000 for a one-time audit, NPR 40,000 for an audit plus implementation, and NPR 25,000 a month for ongoing work. Larger sites, more markets and heavier technical problems cost more, and you get the exact number in writing before anything starts. When you compare quotes from any provider, compare what is included, who owns the accounts, and whether the scope is written down. The pricing page explains what moves the price.
How to tell a real SEO expert from a pretender
- 01Ask for a case study with a starting point. A before number, a date and what changed. "We ranked #1" with nothing else is not evidence.
- 02Check their own site. If an SEO expert's site is slow, broken or invisible to crawlers, believe the site. The free checker takes ten seconds.
- 03Refuse guarantees. Anyone who promises a ranking or a date is guessing or selling.
- 04Get the scope and price in writing before any work or payment.
- 05Keep your accounts. You should own Search Console, analytics and your website logins. Never hand over passwords you can't take back.
- 06Prefer plain language. If you can't follow the explanation, ask again. Jargon often hides thin work.
I've written the longer version: nine checks to run on any SEO expert in Nepal. Run them on me first.
Problems people usually call an SEO expert about
- 01"We launched a new website and traffic fell." Usually it is changed addresses without redirects, or pages accidentally blocked from search at launch. The first check is Search Console and a map from every old address to its new one.
- 02"We only show up when someone types our company name." The site says who you are but not what people search for. The fix is pages built around the searches, not around the brand.
- 03"A competitor is worse than us but ranks higher." They often have a page that matches the search more precisely, clearer structure or more trusted mentions. A side-by-side look at the actual results shows the gap.
- 04"Our Google Business Profile shows the wrong details." Old phone numbers, duplicates and mismatched names confuse customers and search engines alike. The cure is one claimed profile and the same details everywhere.
- 05"We paid for backlinks and it got worse." Bought links do nothing at best and can attract a penalty at worst. The way out is to earn real mentions, and to remove only the links that are clearly manipulative.
- 06"We sell on Daraz, but our own site gets nothing." The marketplace and your site need different jobs. Decide what each sells, so they stop competing for the same customer.
How working with me goes
- 01Free first look. You send your website and what you sell. I check how it appears to crawlers and test real customer questions in AI assistants, then send a short summary.
- 02Audit. A complete, prioritised list of what is broken and what is worth fixing.
- 03Fixes. Built on your site, or handed to your developer with exact instructions.
- 04Ongoing work, only once the foundation is sound: content, upkeep and monthly monitoring.
Frequently asked questions
Who is the best SEO expert in Nepal?
Nobody can honestly name one. There is no licence, no official ranking and no neutral scoreboard, and most "#1" claims are self-published. Compare two or three experts on the same checks instead: a case study with a starting point and dates, the scope and price in writing, and a technically sound website of their own. Here are nine checks to run on any SEO expert in Nepal, me included.
Who is the SEO guru in Nepal?
"Guru" is a nickname, not a qualification, so there is no official SEO guru in Nepal. People usually mean someone well known for training, speaking or social media. For hiring, fame matters less than whether the person has done this work for a business like yours and can show it. Ask for the evidence, then check it yourself.
How much does an SEO expert cost in Nepal?
I charge from NPR 15,000 for a one-time audit, NPR 40,000 for an audit plus implementation, and NPR 25,000 a month for ongoing work. These are starting prices for a small site. Bigger sites, more markets or heavier technical problems cost more, and you get the exact number in writing before anything starts. See how SEO is priced in Nepal.
How long does SEO take to work in Nepal?
Technical fixes can show up in weeks. A new site competing for a competitive search should expect 6 to 12 months for real movement; a narrow, well-targeted page can move faster. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is selling something.
Do you guarantee first-page rankings?
No, and nobody honest does. Rankings depend on competition, content and time, and Google does not take instructions. What I do guarantee is the work: a specific, checkable list of fixes and content, built correctly, with the scope in writing.
Should I hire a freelance SEO expert or an agency in Nepal?
A freelance SEO expert gives you one person who does the work, usually at a lower price and with limited capacity. An agency adds people and process, with more overhead. Neither is better by default, so judge the specific person or team by evidence. I take on client projects alongside my full-time role at Daewoo Nepal, so I keep the number of projects small and put the scope in writing.
Do you work with businesses outside Kathmandu?
Yes. Most of the work happens online, so it works for businesses anywhere in Nepal, and remotely for clients in Australia and the US.
What do you need from me to start?
Your website address, one line on what you sell and to whom, and view-only access to Google Search Console and analytics if you have them. I never need your passwords, and every account stays under your own login.
Can you get my business recommended by ChatGPT?
Nobody can guarantee that, because AI assistants vary from one answer to the next. What can be done is making your site easy for them to read and trust: crawler access, structured data and clear answers. See how AI SEO works, or test your own site free.
