Short version: I count visits on my own server so I can see which pages are useful and where people come from. I don't run ads, I don't use third-party trackers, and I never sell or share anything. You choose how much I can remember about you, and you can change it here at any time.
What gets recorded
- 01The page you opened and its title, and the time.
- 02Where you came from, as a name like Google or LinkedIn, plus any campaign tag in the link.
- 03Roughly where you are: your country and nearest city, worked out from your connection by Cloudflare. Not your address.
- 04Your device type (phone, tablet or desktop), browser and operating system family, and your browser language.
- 05How long you stayed and how far you scrolled on each page.
- 06Which links and buttons you click, such as WhatsApp, email, the CV or an outbound link, so I know which pages lead to a message.
What is never recorded
- 01Your IP address. It is used for a moment to build the anonymous code below, then discarded.
- 02Your name, email, phone number or anything you type.
- 03Anything about what you do on other websites.
The two ways I recognise a visitor
Anonymous (the default). No cookie. Your visit gets a code made from your connection, your browser and today's date, mixed with a private secret. The code changes every day, so nobody can be followed from one day to the next, and it cannot be turned back into who you are.
If you accept. One small cookie, aj_v, holds a random number with no meaning outside this site. It lasts 180 days and lets me see that a visitor came back, for example after reading a case study. A second cookie, aj_c, just remembers your choice.
Your controls
- 01Change your mind with the buttons above. They work immediately.
- 02Delete my data removes every record tied to your cookie and clears it. Anonymous daily codes can't be matched back to you, so they simply expire.
- 03Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are honoured automatically: if your browser sends either, nothing is recorded.
How long it is kept, and who can see it
Records are deleted after 400 days. Only I can see them, behind a password, in a private admin page. The data sits in a database on Cloudflare, which also serves this site. Cloudflare's own privacy-friendly analytics, which uses no cookies, may also run on pages.
