What the checker looks at
- 01Which AI crawlers can get in. OpenAI's search crawler, ChatGPT's page reader, Perplexity, Claude, Google and Bing, read straight from your robots.txt.
- 02Whether your text is really in the page. Most AI crawlers don't run JavaScript, so a site that builds its content in the browser can look empty to them.
- 03Structured data. The code that tells machines who you are and what you sell: business, products, FAQs, profiles and contact details.
- 04The search basics. Title, description, main heading, canonical address, phone layout and share preview.
- 05Discovery files. A sitemap and an
llms.txtsummary written for AI assistants. - 06Whether your firewall turns crawlers away, which some bot-protection modes do by default.
How to read your score
In good shape. Fix the small items and keep it that way.
A solid base with a few gaps worth closing.
Findable, but you are making it harder than it needs to be.
Likely invisible to AI assistants. The fixes are usually quick.
A score measures readiness, not rank. Nobody controls whether ChatGPT recommends you, and I'd never promise it. A low score, though, makes it very unlikely.
Frequently asked questions
Is the AI visibility checker really free?
Yes. Paste any public website address and you get a score, a fix list and the status of the AI crawlers. There is no sign-up. You can run up to 10 checks an hour.
What does a good score mean?
It means the basics are in place: AI crawlers are allowed in, the text is in the page's HTML, the business is described in structured data, and the usual discovery files exist. It does not guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend you, because nobody controls that, but a low score makes it very unlikely.
Why would a website block ChatGPT without knowing it?
Security plugins, CDN bot-protection modes and some hosting defaults add rules that block every crawler that isn't a normal browser, or copy rules for AI crawlers into robots.txt. The site owner often never sees them. The checker shows exactly which crawlers your robots.txt blocks. Read how this happens to Nepali sites.
Does the checker store my website address?
It keeps the address you check and its score for 90 days, so I can see how the tool is used and improve it. It does not keep your name or email, and the code used for the hourly limit is a hash that is cleared after a week. More on privacy.
Can you fix the problems it finds?
Yes. Most of what the checker flags is a small technical fix. I can do it for you or hand your developer exact instructions. Audits start at NPR 15,000, and the first look is free. See the services.
Rather have it fixed for you?
Send me your website and one line on what you sell. I'll send back a short summary, and quote the scope in writing if it makes sense to go further.
